Meet Sena Agbeko, the Ghanaian boxer with brains

Sena Agbeko has a dream to be a boxing world champion but the 19 year old also has the knack for books.
Agbeko fights George Banson for the Ghana as well as West Africa Boxing Union (WABU) Super Middleweight belt on the October 15th Only the Strong boxing extravaganza at the Lebanon House in Accra but he is already looking beyond that fight even if he respects the opponent.
“The Commonwealth title is my target after this fight. I want to be a world champion but I’m giving myself 2 to 3 years because I don’t want to rush anything since I just turned professional this year. I am very serious that’s why I’ve fought this many fights in this short period.
“Banson will be very tough because he is very strong and has more experience. When he started boxing I hadn’t even dreamt of it but I also have speed so I will counter his strength with my speed,” Sena (7-0, 7 KOs) told the Ghanaian newspaper ALL SPORTS in impeccable English.
That should be no surprise because Sena is currently studying for a degree in Communication Studies at the Ghana Institute of Journalism, very rare for a Ghanaian boxer. He however maintains that the sport will rule over the book, at least for the next decade.
He told ALL SPORTS: “Media and Public Relations is something that I’ve always had the passion for after boxing. So immediately I retire from boxing then I will take it up full time, but until then I am fighting for the next ten years.
“I think age 29 will be perfect for me to retire from boxing,” Sena disclosed.
