Shimmering setting for WBC 52nd Convention

December 4th, 2014.

The 3,044 room Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada built by Steve Wynn in 1989, will be the spectacular host venue for the 52nd World Boxing Council Convention, from December 14th to 20th

The Mirage Hotel had held some epic battles that are now engraved in boxing history including the classics:

December 7th, 1989, Sugar Ray Leonard successfully defended his WBC super middleweight crown against Panamanian, Roberto “ hands of stone” Duran, in their third clash.

On October 25th 1990, Evander Holyfield KO’d Buster Douglas in the third round, seizing the WBC crown that Buster had conquered in Tokyo, against Mike Tyson, in a major upset.

On June 28th, 1991, Azumah Nelson , from Ghana retained his WBC super featherweight title with a draw against Australian, Jeff Fenech.

On May 9th, 1992, Terry Norris got an impressive KO over Meldrick Taylor, defending his WBC super welterweight crown.

The great Mexican idol, Julio Cesar Chavez, held important fights at the Mirage defending his WBC super lightweight title against the Americans John Duplessis, Lonnie Smith, Marty Jakubowski, and Kenyan David Kamau.

Our iWBC Convention is aiming make history again, as we continue strengthening our affiliated federations. There will also be Medical and Rankings committees, plus Judges and Referees Seminars.

Boxing superstars including: Mike Tyson, Lennox Lewis, Evander Holyfield, Roberto Duran, Marvin Hagler, Julio Cesar Chavez, Oscar de la Hoya, Joe Calzaghe and Nigel Benn are attending.
