Full Throttle on September 8

Cruiserweight Crossroads War Tops United Boxing’s Sept. 8th Hershey Centre Card
Daley Faces Douglas in Crucial Battle For Contender Status

MISSISSAUGA, ON. (Friday, August 31, 2012) – Cruiserweights “Dangerous” Denton Daley and Jason “Friday the 13th” Douglas have taken two different roads in their respective boxing careers. But on Saturday, September 8th at The Hershey Centre in Mississauga, in the main event of United Promotions’ Full Throttle card, which can be seen live on Rogers Community 10, those roads cross in the most important domestic fight of the year.
Daley (6-0, 3 KO’s), of Kitchener, Ontario, is one of Canada’s top up and coming talents, and is coming off a one-sided beating of former Canadian Cruiserweight champion Frank White this past May, in which the young upstart used his blazing hand speed to pulverize White from the opening bell. Finally, after six rounds of unrelenting punishment, ringside officials decided to end White’s suffering by calling a halt to the fight.
It was a spectacular performance against a tough, grizzled veteran that added even more buzz and excitement to the din surrounding Daley.
But while Daley is riding the wave of promise and potential, Douglas (10-4, 4 KO’s), also of Kitchener, is trying right a career that has fallen well short of the success that seemed certain after a decorated amateur career which included Commonwealth Games heavyweight gold in 2002, and Pan-Am Games bronze in 2003.
Like Daley, Douglas’ previous fight was with the aforementioned Frank White. But while Daley thrived and dominated, Douglas snuck out of the ring with a narrow split decision win.
Can Douglas right his ship, and rediscover the magic that made him one of the best amateur fighters in the world, or will Daley continue his meteoric rise up the professional ladder?
As good as the main event is on September 8th, the Full Throttle undercard is just as mouthwatering.
Ajax, Ontario’s exciting Brandon “Bad Boy” Cook (6-0, 3 KO’s) faces tough Israeli Danny Metzer (3-1, 1 KO) in a middleweight showdown.
Former Canadian Welterweight champion Tebor Brosch (6-3-5, 2 KO’s) is coming down two weight divisions to face tough Hungarian lightweight Gyorgy Mizsei Jr. (8-1, 4 KO’s).
Belleville, Ontario’s heavyweight showman Dillon “Big Country” Carmen (3-1, 2 KO’s) looks to wow the Hershey Centre crowd yet again, when he goes up against tough Alain Kashama (1-0).
Hamilton, Ontario lightweight Steven Wilcox (2-0, 1 KO) takes a step up in competition against Budapest, Hungary’s Sandor Horvath (4-2, 2 KO’s).
As well, two undefeated Jr. Middleweights hook up over 4 rounds when Toronto’s Junmar Emon (1-0) faces Truro, Nova Scotia’s Ryan McGrady (1-0).
And rounding out the action, Hamilton’s Amanda Beaudin (1-0, 1 KO) faces Burlington debutante Jacqueline Park for a four round throwdown.
Tickets to United Promotion’s Full Throttle, on Saturday, September 8th, start at just $30.00, and are available at TicketMaster, or at the Hershey Centre box office.
Doors open at 7:00PM, and the leather flies at 8:00PM.
