Boxing Back to Africa

Home

Africa is a beautiful continent that is being overrun by despair but I know many who still want to visit here. This could be your chance to travel to Africa. At the Community Youth Transition Center, we are committed to giving life to the people of Africa by feeding them, through farming and relief programs, creating jobs by offering local events that will require a wide variety of labor, eliminating disease like HIV/Aids and malaria through medical assistance, counseling and trainning, and in general restoring hope.

Proceeds from the events described on this site will go to actually construct the education and recreation center in Nigeria that will be dedicated to renowned Nigerian boxers Hogan "Kid" Bassy and Dick Tiger. The center should have a Computer class, music and video production class, Boxing gym, tennis court, Swimming pool, tracks, soccer field and more.

This event start January Febuary 2008 with fundraising receptions to be held around US and Canada. CYTC and Jacboxing Promotions will host a series of press conferences and music concerts in an effort to announce the August 2008 Big event in Nigeria.

There are three goals here. Recognition of Hogan "Kid" Bassey and Dick Tiger's efforts; identifying funding to assist the HIV/AIDS pandemic in Africa and around the world, through various NGO's, creating employment and exposure for Boxers around the world as this event features boxers from 18 different countries including Japan, Thailand, Australia, Germany, London, Denmark, New Zealand, Argentina, South Africa, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Ghana, Nigeria plus more and establishing a world class boxing gym in Dick's home town in Nigeria and other needy Countries.

Due to economic strife and political mistrust, young people are not provided with considerable resources to improve their lives. Over 100 million people in Nigeria alone are informed about this great game of boxing. As we invite our brothers and sisters from the United States and around the globe we intend to connect both continents and one people for three important goals. Part of this series will also honor some of the United States greatest in the boxing industry. We are presently under discussions with Don King, renowned boxing promoter to be chieftain and honored by the traditional leadership of Dick's home town, Jose Torres one of Dick's embattled>fighters and ESPN reporters, and a host of current young boxers. Jose Torres said it best during a recent visit to his

Manhattan resident " Dick Tiger was one of the greatest and important boxers for mankind. His public contribution and humility brought some solace to Africans during that continent's high concerns and more importantly I want to visit that homeland that he learned those wicked punches"

On August 14th 1929 celebrating Dick's birthday, with support from the Nigerian Government ,philanthropies, NGO's, government representatives, Africa will finally honor a hero. Africans in the the United States will return home for a great cause. What follows is a list of our invited guests to be honored by the Nigerian Government and Dick Tiger's homeland:
