Sergio “Maravilla” Martinez Does It Again

Boxing fans everywhere!  You could feel the excitement all around you.  On March 12, 2011, boxing was held live on HBO at MGM Foxwoods Resort and Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut, United States.  World Boxing Council (WBC)  and Ring Magazine Middleweight Champion Sergio “Maravilla” Martinez (47-2-2) a southpaw from California by way of Argentina fought a 12 round battle against World Boxing Organization Junior Middleweight Champion Sergiy “Razor” Dzinziruk (37-1-0) who is also a southpaw from Germany by way of Ukraine.   Both fighters were fighting for the World Boxing Council Diamond Middleweight Title.  Martinez won by knock out in the 8th  round naming Martinez the World Boxing Council Diamond Middleweight Title Champion.     

There was also a co-feature event between southpaw middleweights Andy Lee (25-1-0) and Craig McEwan (19-1-0).    Lee was victorious in the 10th round by way of knock out.  This bout was 10 rounds.

Other bouts of the evening:

Javier “El Abejon” Fortuna fought against Derrick Wilson in an 10 round fight in the featherweight division. Fortuna won by knock out in the 8th round and became the WBC Youth Featherweight.

Thomas Dulorme fought against Guillermo Valdes in a 6 round fight in the Welterweight Division.   Dulorme won by knock out.

Soyna Lamonokis fought against Tanzee Daniel in a 6 round fight in the Heavyweight Division.  Lamonakis won by unanimous decision. 

Seanie Monaghan fought against Billy Cunningham in a 4 round fight in the Light Heavyweight Division.   Monaghan won by unanimous decision.

Abraham Lopez fought against Andrew Jones in a 4 round fight in the Junior Middleweight division. Lopez won by unanimous decision.
