Ringside by Pattee Mak |February 15, 2013

Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing held a live professional boxing show tonight at Connecticut’s Mohegan Sun.  A portion of the bouts was shown live on ESPN2.   The main event consisted of middleweights, Delvin Rodriguez vs. George Tahdooahnippah.

Prior to the start of the bout, Tahdooahnippah had an exciting entrance to the ring with a Native American Tribal Warfare Dance, drums and rappers. Unfortunately this did not help him during his fight against Rodriguez.

During the majority of the fight, Rodriguez denominated it with the referee warning Rodriguez twice for hitting too low. But that didn’t stop him from unleashing his combinations on Tahdooahnippah.  Round 2 everyone in the area was on their fight.  Rodriguez landed a couple of great right hands that rocked Tahdooahnippah.

After round 2 there was some confusion coming from the corner of Tahdooahnippah and at one point it appeared that the attending physician stopped the bout but the bell started and round 3 continued on.

Round 3 was pretty much the same as round 2 but Tahdooahnippah was showing blood on his face.

Round 4 started off at a slower pace but in the beginning Tahdooahnippah appeared to be slowly coming back but in the end of the round it was all Rodriguez.

Round 5 and 6 Tahdooahnippah isn’t really defending himself. Finally referee, Eddie Cotton called a halt to the bout 2 minutes, 41 seconds into the round and therefore, Rodriguez takes the wins by TKO.    The entire fight was truly one side.  Tahdooahnippah’s face wasn’t looking so pretty in the end.

Rodriguez increased his record to 27-6-3 and Tahdooahnippah decreased his record to 31-1-1.
