Irish Joe McCreedy Goes the Distance Against Tyner

[November 23, 2013 – Ringside by Pattee Mak]

On a crisp, cold afternoon in Boston, Massachusetts Big Six Entertainment held another fight card at the old Roxy nite club know known as Club Royale. “Royale Rumble” featured “Irish” JOE McCREEDY  of Lowell, MA vs. STEVEN TYNER of Akron, Ohio.

923After 6 rounds of action, McCreedy out boxed Tyner and broke his opponent down. Tyner just didn’t have the power from his punches to cause any real damage to McCreedy. Judges scored the bout 59-55; 60-54 and 60-54 for a unanimous decision win to McCreedy. McCreedy increased his record to (15-6-2) and Tyner decreased his record to (3-13-2)

Co-Main:

Local fan favorite cruiserweight CHRIS TRAIETTI of Quincy, MA came prepared when he took on RANDY “The Rattler” CAMPBELL of Bowerston, Ohio. During round 2 Traietti landed a clean right on the chin of Campbell, which brought him to the canvas. Campbell’s nose is showing some blood. Right after the 3rd round bell and before the ringing of the bell for the 4th round Campbell couldn’t answer the bell giving Traietti the TKO victory. Some were speculating it could have been a broken nose BUT not sure since the corner stopped it.  Traietti increased his recorded to (15-3-0 and Campbell decreased his record to (3-11).

Heavyweights ALEXIS SANTOS of Lawrence, MA vs. KEVIN FRANKLIN of Charleston, West Virginia. Round 3 was Santos best. Santos delivered a combination of left and rights to the body head while Franklin withstood the punishment. Franklin’s prayer was answered when Santos’ mouthpiece came loose and flew out of his mouth. Judges scored the bout 59-55 and 60-53 and 60-53 all in favor of Santos. Santos increased his perfect record to (12-0-0) and Franklin is now (4-8-0).

Welterweights GREG VENDETTI of Stoneham, MA vs. ANTONIO CHAVES FERNANDEZ of Brockton, MA. This is a re-match from back on July 2, 2013, which ended in a draw. Fans were supportive of Vendetti. Vendetti cut off the center of the ring well and walked down his opponent. Fernandez changed stances throughout the bout. Judges scored the bout 59-55 for Fernandez, 59-55 for Vendetti and 58-56 for Fernandez. Fernandez takes the bout by a split decision and increased his record to (4-13-2) and Vendetti is now (4-1-1).

Welterweights ALEKSANDRA MAGDZIAK LOPES, of Marshfield, MA by way of Poland vs. “Notorious” NICOLE WOODS of Mountain, WV. Both former world title challengers went the distance for 6 rounds. Judges scored the bout 58-56 for woods; 57-57 and 57-57. It ends in a majority draw. Lopes is now (10-2-1) and Woods is (11-12-3).

Junior Welterweights Speedy” RASHIDI ELLIS of Lynn, MA who was also the 2012 National PAL Champ went up against OSCAR DIAZ of Hartford, CT. Ellis controlled all of the action. Diaz went to the canvas 4 times after the 4th time Referee Jack Morrell had enough and called a halt to the bout at 2:16 into round 1. inner Ellis by TKO. Ellis is now (3-0-0) and Diaz (0-3-0).
